Caraway Seeds: Shahjeera / Kala Jeera in Hindi



Caraway Seeds, also known as meridian fennel, and Persian cumin (Carum carvi) is a biennial plant in the family Apiaceae. The plant is similar in appearance to other members of the carrot family, this plant in finely divided feathery leaves, growing on 20–30 cm.

Caraway seeds have healing power, and they use the oil and seeds as medicine.

Caraway is used for digestive problems including heartburn, bloating, gas, loss of appetite, and mild spasms of the stomach and intestines. Caraway Seeds said to relieve flatulence, colic and bronchitis. They also stimulate the appetite, can be used to relieve menstrual pain and increase milk flow in nursing mothers. The seeds also contain many vital vitamins such as A, E, C, as well as a number of B complex vitamins also.

How to consume:

Essential caraway oils are also used as aromatic steam for rejuvenating and disinfecting the skin, reduce wrinkles and stimulate skin health, making you feel young and recharged. This essential oil has been documented as having properties to reduce boils, acne and similar rashes; it helps regenerate skin cells so that mild scars due to acne or pigmentation can cure.It strengthens the stomach, kill worms.

If we consume empty stomach roasted caraway seed powder 1/4ts, roasted celery seeds 1/4ts and 1/4ts of fenugreek seeds powder with same quantity of turmeric powder, we can reduce burbs in early morning and also good for joint pain problems. This mix can help to increase your immune power. Consuming caraway seed powder with daily meal can reduce blood pressure and lower cholesterol levels.

This seeds are May good to use for weight loss. Take caraway seed, celery seed (Omam / Ajwain) and fenugreek seed in equal amount and keep the powder. Consume 1ts of this powder daily after dinner with lukewarm water. After couple of days you may start feeling light and active, must remember not to consume excess of it because there are no shortcuts for weight loss.

How to store:

Store whole seeds in fixed close compartments in a cool and evaporate place to one or two Months. Cooked and powdered caraway seeds up to a half year can store.
