Chitranha/ Lemon Rice

Nowadays, ladies are busy with Diwali cleaning and some preparation. They don’t have much time to cook. They can go with some of the different types of rice and salad. These will be healthy and less time consuming also. In the same category, I am going to share some rice recipes you will enjoy the same and save your time. So, let’s start.


  • Rice – 1 cup
  • Sesame Oil – 3
  • Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp
  • Asafoetida – 1/4 tsp
  • Udad dal – 1 tsp
  • Chana dal – 1/2 tsp
  • Chili – red or green (as per your choice)
  • Curry leaves – 10 to 12 leaves
  • Peanuts – 1/4 cup
  • Cashew Nuts – 1/4 cup(Optional)
  • Dry Coconut slices – 1/8 cup (optional)
  • Lemon juice – 2 tsp( as per your taste)
  • Salt – As per taste
  • Water – 1 3/4 Cup (as per rice quality)

First, wash rice, add water, and cook in a presser pan. Give one whistle and let it cool down. Now take a pan and to make a condiment, add oil. Now step by step fry, cashew nuts, dry coconuts, peanuts, and keep aside. Now in the same oil, one by one add mustard seeds, asafoetida, urad dal, chana dal, chili, and curry leaves. Let it slightly change the color. Add your ready rice with lemon juice and salt. Now mix it well and garnish with peanuts and cashew nuts and serve hot with some salad.
